As an « Invited Artist », Franco-Belgian painter engraver Karel Vereycken’s engraving Tree of Life (2026) will be on show at the prestigeous Sumarte +, a dynamic art platform for many artists in Central, South America and beyond.

SUMARTE is the 23rd annual exhibition and art auction organized to support the educational and social programs of the Museum of Art of El Salvador

The contest and exhibit are managed by an independent committee, that aims to support artists and promote national art collecting.

It consists of a selection process, competition, exhibition, and auction of works by established artists and emerging talents.

In turn, it serves as a platform for specialization for young or emerging artists through the « SUMARTE Unique Prize » and an artist residency for young talent.

The auction committee, familiar with the national market and the interests of participating collectors, invites certain artists to participate in the Guest Artists category.

However, recognizing the potential for emerging artists or new and innovative artistic proposals, the committee also organizes an open call each year for artists not directly invited to the auction. This competition aims not only to showcase new artists but also to foster their professional development, as they must be selected by an independent jury, meet specific criteria, and participate in a selective process to become Selected Artists.

SUMARTE is a high-quality and successful event that would not be possible without the invaluable support of the artists who respond to our call, the generosity of collectors, and the support of our sponsors. Thanks to this effort, the continued existence of the MARTE Museum and its educational, social, and artistic programs is guaranteed.

SUMARTE features an art exhibition and auction to benefit the El Salvador Art Museum (MARTE). It is held annually.

All the works selected from the competition and those of the invited artists are exhibited in the SUMARTE exhibition between October 7 and November 4, 2026.
